Catalog Items

In the Catalog example items such as the Pencils and Pens would be classified as a Product, because they are a physical item and are inventory or commodity based. Items such as the Resume Proofreading, is time based or labour oriented item so it would be classified as a Service.

You must specify whether the item is a Product or Service when you create the item in your Catalog. Catalog Items may also be defined as a Package, which is a combination of Products and Services bundled into one item. Packages are more advanced and will covered further on in this document.

Whether you are keeping track of Products or Services, you will be able to track information and details about your Catalog Items. Below is a list of some of the basic information you can track.

Basic Details

Manufacturer – Original Equipment Manufacturer of Item.
Number – OEM’s model number of Item.
Name – Named description of Item.

An example of a Pencil might be look like the following.

Manufacturer – Stanford
Number – HBP01
Name – HB Wood Pencil

Price Information

Cost – How much the item Costs you to purchase or provide.
Retail – Suggested Retail price of this item, or the full selling price.
Wholesale – Second Tier or discounted price for your wholesale or resale customers.

Descriptions

Header Description – A basic one or two sentence description of the Catalog Item.
Detailed Description – A detailed paragraph describing the Catalog Item.
Images

Up to a maximum of 8 .jpeg images of each Catalog Item.

Specifications and Dimensions Table

Up to a maximum of 10 Specifications of each Catalog Item.
Length, Width, Height, and Weight of Product Items only.
